I’m so glad you’re here.
Buttonwillow Speech is a boutique pediatric private practice that provides speech and language services from the comfort of your own home or community to children in-person (Cypress) and via teletherapy (across the state of Texas).
My mission is to help children grow in their communication skills through joyful evidence-based speech and language therapy. I am passionate about connecting with and empowering families to help them accomplish their goals.
Meet the Owner
Annalise Wood, M.S. CCC-SLP
Hi! My name is Annalise Wood, Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) and owner of Buttonwillow Speech. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you and your family!

I graduated from Biola University with my bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and my master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I am a certified member of American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the state of Texas. I have experience in many settings including schools, homes, private practice, and teletherapy. While I have had the privilege of working with a variety of clients, I specialize in pediatric (ages 3-18) evaluation and treatment of speech sound disorders, language delays/disorders, social communication, and stuttering. I am especially fond of working with neurodiverse individuals.

In my practice, I take a child-centered approach with a focus on connection. I strive to make each speech session effective, meaningful, and fun! I love to incorporate engaging toys, seasonal books, music, visual schedules, sensory bins, games, and crafts; all tailored to your child’s individual goals. I recognize that as a parent, you are the expert on your child and your involvement is key to their success. As a lifelong learner, I am dedicated to staying up-to-date with the latest evidence based research to expand my knowledge and skills. I have completed the following continuing education certificate programs: The Inside Out Sensory Certificate Course by Jessie Ginsburg (which focuses on incorporating sensory regulation strategies to achieve the optimal learning zone), The It Takes Two to Talk program by Hanen (an early language development intervention that emphasizes parent training and the implementation of practical communication strategies in everyday routines), Training in Natural Language Acquisition by Meaningful Speech (which provides guidance on supporting spontaneous language in gestalt language processors through play-based, child-led therapy), and Myofunctional Therapy Training and Certification for SLPs by SimonSays (Introduction to Myofunctional Therapy, Assessment of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders, Tongue Tips: A Myofunctional Program for 8+, Tiny Tongue Tips: An Early Intervention Myofunctional Program, and Thumbs Up: An Oral Habit Elimination Program).

In addition to my work as a speech therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, exploring nature trails with my dog, making soup, and traveling.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Where do services take place?I bring therapy to you! Services can take place in the comfort and convenience of your own home or even in your community park, private school, daycare, or library (given the location and weather permit). I also offer services via teletherapy for clients across Texas (if determined appropriate for the child). Providing speech therapy in your child’s natural environment allows for increased generalization of skills, parent involvement, and flexibility!
-
How long are the speech therapy sessions?Speech therapy sessions are typically scheduled for one hour once a week depending on your child’s unique needs.
-
Is an evaluation required? An evaluation is needed unless your child has received a comprehensive evaluation from a speech language pathologist within the last six months. Please provide a copy of the most recent assessment report and treatment notes (if applicable school-based FIE/IEP) for review.
-
Can my child receive speech services both through the school district and privately?Definitely! Students can participate in services through Buttonwillow Speech in addition to school-based IEP services. Given permission, we can also communicate with your child’s school-based SLP to get on the same page about helping your child achieve their goals. Buttonwillow Speech can also offer treatment to children who would benefit from speech services but may not qualify for school services due to the strict criteria needed to qualify.
-
How does payment work?At this time, Buttonwillow Speech LLC is private pay only and accepts the following payment methods: cash, check, credit card, health savings account, and flexible savings account. Payment is due on the day of service. Private pay options allow for flexibility and creative solutions when providing services. Insurance companies often dictate the number and duration of services and occasionally do not cover speech services at all. By accepting private pay options only, we do not require referrals or prior authorizations. We are able to provide the necessary documentation needed for HSA and FSA coverage. We are currently considered out of network with all insurance companies and are not in network with any contracting insurance company. Buttonwillow Speech can provide what is known as a Superbill which would allow a client to seek potential reimbursement of services through insurance benefits. The family would be required to verify with their insurance company if this is an option.
